Schoolism Fundamentals of Light Lesson 6

Skin.

The image below reflects the corrections I made based on the suggestions of other artists in the FB group for Schoolism. I added more light to the clavicle and shoulder and more shadow to the eyelids.

Schoolism Fundamentals of Light Lesson 5

This was a very good exercise on fur and hair. I went over some things I knew and learned a lot of good tips. I watched a lot of episodes of the Walking Dead as I was painting this hahaha. I was hoping some of the suspense would translate into it.

Schoolism Fundamentals of Light Lesson 2

I found this lesson very refreshing and full of good tips. I also learned two additional lessons not included in the video. First, backup important files before deleting whole gigs of information from the hard drive. Second, repeating an entire assignment can really help with learning the concepts in a more comprehensive manner.

Schoolism Fundamentals of Light Lesson 1

I came across these words the other day and they felt just right.

“There are as many worlds as there are kinds of days, and as an opal changes its colors and its fire to match the nature of a day, so do I.” ― John Steinbeck

Warrior

These are a couple of exercises I completed recently in order to sharpen my digital painting skills. One of the toughest things to learn for me has been painting with textures while avoiding the plastic look.

Chimp Print

This is another forgotten pair of prints whose digital files were lost the first time I lost nearly all my content from my hard drive. I was happy to look at them again as I scanned them again!

LasT post of the year!!!

This is a painting I worked on to get used to using more textures. The concept for it came from an idea of finding animals who could be the most adept at human activities.

CARNIVAL

This is an illustration I did about a story I have been wanting to develop in many different aspects. From writing the entire story to developing characters and animating it. Abigail is the main character of the story who after losing her family to the zombie outbreak she is faced with the decision of using the knowledge and abilities her family has left with her to either help rebuild a new world or wipe out humans entirely. Before her father, the ring master, her mother, the magician, and her brother, the strong man, lost their humanity, they decided not to leave Abigail alone and infused her favorite stuffed animal with the remains of their fading humanity. The animated version of this illustration IS COMING SOON!!!!

Portrait of Abraham Lincoln

This is a digital illustration of Abraham Lincoln. I wanted to illustrate what I remember the most about what he did as a President, which was to want to preserve the union between North and South. I used one of the most recognized parts of one of his speeches to emphasize my idea of him. Digital painting done in photoshop.

Figure Drawing

20 minute drawing with micron markers and tombow. The paper was terrible and didn't allow the Tombow makers to do its magic but it was a good lesson to learn and to see what the possibilities were with that sketchbook.
