Neon Sign Animation

These are a few videos I created from a Jake Bartlett's class, Animation with Light. The first video has sound and it is the traditional neon version of the project.

No sound version.

3D Version.

Some experimenting too.

Wikus Van De Merwe

I wanted to put all the figures in one single image to define sizes and also to just see them all together. I am glad to have improved on the skills I needed to create these walk cycles. Much more to learn too!

Wikus Walk Cycle 5 of 5

This is the final walk cycle in the series!! This definitely helped me improve on my skills as well as pointing out what I need to get better and refine. This is one of my favorite movies so it was very pleasant to work on all the walk cycles.

Wikus Walk Cycle 4 of 5

By far my favorite walk cycle to work on so far. Sooooooo many pieces to connect and keep in place. So many hours went into this one but I learned a lot. It has been interesting to go through the same process of creating a walk cycle and realize the differences and nuances that come up with each one. EXOSUIT!!!!!

Wikus Walk Cycle 3 of 5

Wikus goes on the attack using alien weaponry!!! ZZZZAAAAAAPPPPP!!!!!

For the sake of continuity I am adding the same format as the previous posts! I think I like the horizontal view way better for this one. It displays the electric zap more clearly.

Wikus Walk Cycle 2 of 5

Wikus runs away from MNU!

MTA Car Card

This is my design for a possible car card for the MTA. I really like the Bronx Zoo so I wanted to illustrate the relationship between this landmark and the subway system in a playful way. Done in Illustrator with gradient meshes and regular gradients.

Finished poster.

This is a detail of one of my favorite parts on the poster.

 Another one of my favorites.

"Going Home"

My final animation project!!

Digital painting...

As I started to run out time towards the end of this final semester I realized that I would have to combine projects so I could get them all done. I decided to create a story for my digital painting class made up of 4 different boards that I would later on animate in After Effects. These are the 4 original boards that make up my story. (I used my little character from book illustration for this project too....ha.)

 This is the intro.

 First scene (monsters are introduced)

This is the last scene (MEGA monsters come out and attack!!!!!!)

A small detail of the final scene ( RUN FOR IT!!!!!!!!!)

This is the middle of the story (deep DEEP PROBLEMS)

OWLlusionist

This is one of the first characters I have done just in Illustrator. It is great to finally be able to push the techniques I know as far as I can. I am looking forward to the next one!
